This is a book on the history of British rule in India . It coincides with Modern History. It is not a political narrative of the British rule, the freedom Struggle and Independence.

 The discovery of India was written by India's first prime minister at Ahmdnagar fort in present day Indian state of Maharashtra by British colonial authorities before the independence of India. This book was written in 1944 but published in 1946.

Freedom at Midnight (1975) is a non-fiction book by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre about the events around the Indian Independence Movement and partition. Not for nearly 800 years would any other writer match Alberuni's profound understanding of almost all aspects of Indian life.
